ABOUT US

The origin of 1 Gol at a time’ emerged from the realization that our school’s soccer coaches at CD Real Tegus, a registered soccer academy in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, shared a collective interest in providing free coaching to young children in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. They will take their materials home on days off to be able to train kids in their own time at no cost to these kids.

Our director Gerardo Valerio, A professional soccer coach with a degree from Florida Tech University, currently serves as the U22 and U20 assistant coach for the Honduras National Teams. His international experience heightened his awareness of the pressing need to enhance training opportunities for children from a tender age, providing tools and skills for them to grow with goals and purpose in mind, creating distance from social issues such as school dropout or criminal activity, ultimately enriching their prospects for a better future.

OUR VISION

Establish our organization as one dedicated to grow opportunities in Central America, initially in Tegucigalpa, Honduras but, with sights throughout the region. To provide education, values and functional structure to rural areas where soccer is a cultural tool to rescue teens and kids from crime, drug cartels. Our free programs and soccer camps will cultivate a desire for these kids to improve and grow their physical, psychological and personal skills and in turn become part of the development of the region, offering themselves an opportunity for a fulfilling career and a better future.

OUR VALUES

Our values are the core to our foundation. We foster an environment where families and members are urged to embrace tolerance, faith, camaraderie, mutual respect, sportsmanship, education, effective communication, gratitude, and a spirit of collaboration.

OUR MISSION

Introduce young teens and kids from unprivileged areas in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to soccer coaching by sponsoring their development from the earliest stage possible. Kids in these areas are considered to be in high social risk due to their financial, social and health living conditions. Our programs are designed to rescue this population by offering not only a career but essential living skills that will open opportunities to develop as integral part of society.

OBJECTIVES

- Service kids and parents with psychological needs in order to help them addressing their problems, in and outside the household.

- Provide support and education from a holistic point of view. Our school will not only  teach kids and teens how to coach and play but most importantly and primarily, will teach them to be a better person, with strong values and spiritually rich.

- Reduce early age immigration. Our programs also intent to provide work environments for kids and teens, preventing them from migrating to other countries and risking their lives. These programs are designed to educate beyond soccer, working with government agencies in need to address political and social issue across borders.

- Provide free transportation in and outbound to the outskirts of the city to expand our reach to those areas in need of attention.

- Create free nutrition programs and food banks.

- Elevate pride and accomplishment forming future leaders for our communities, making empowerment a vehicle for better societies.
